Mintimer Shaimiev: "Tatarstan and the Netherlands have real opportunities to increase foreign trade turnover to over $1bln"

Prospective directions of cooperation and ways of increasing of the trade turnover between Tatarstan and the Netherlands were in the focus at the meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Russian Federation Tiddo Hofstee on February 15 in the Kazan Kremlin.

Tatarstan and the Netherlands have established sustainable relations. The truth is that oil, oil products, polymers of ethylene, synthetic rubber are the most important articles of Tatarstan's export, and export substantially prevails over import. So, the cooperation of Tatarstan and the Netherlands reminds single-direction running. If it is two-way, we shall be glad, the President emphasised and noted that Tatarstan and the Netherlands had real opportunities to increase the foreign trade turnover to over $1 bln. "It is undoubted that we should have met earlier, but it is better late than never", - Mintimer Shaimiev said.

However, the business world does what it should do, connections are developing, and the basis of it is the level of cooperation established between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Russian Federation. The main thing, the head of Tatarstan is sure, is mutual understanding, and there are no reasons "to stop developing" as the Netherlands develop very successfully and what attracts is that they do it using high technologies.
