Mintimer Shaimiev: "We have all prerequisites for development of new directions of cooperation with Sweden"

Prospects of development of cultural and economic cooperation of Tatarstan and Sweden were discussed on February 7 at a meeting of President of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Russian Federation H.E. Johan Molander.

First of all, Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated the Swedish team on their victory in the 25th World Bandy Championship that finished on February 6 in Kazan.

"The last years saw quite a good groundwork for cooperation between Tatarstan and Sweden being layed in all directions", - the head of the republic said. He also marked a significant role in this process of H.E. Johan Mulander's predecessor Ambassador of Sweden in Russia H.E. Sven Hirdman. "Today, we have all prerequisites necessary for increasing the volumes and developing new directions of cooperation ", the head of the republic said.

< > An important step in the field of development of cultural interaction was the opening of the Swedish centre in Kazan State Technological University. Swedish representatives are going to take an active part in celebrating the anniversary of the capital of Tatarstan. "The economic cooperation has been developing actively, especially in the field of motor industry and petrochemistry", - the President noted.

After the meeting, H.E. Johan Molander told journalists that they talked about cooperation of Tatarstan enterprises with such large Swedish companies as Volvo, Scania, Ericsson, ABB.
