Tatarstan President and Governor of Kirov oblast discussed prospects for cooperation

Building of bridges between Tatarstan and the Kirov oblast in both literal and figurative senses was discussed at a meeting of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and Governor of the Kirov oblast Nikolai Shaklein in the Kazan Kremlin on February 5.

Mintimer Shaymiev noticed that Tatarstan and the Kirov oblast have had eternal neighbouring relations and emphasised that the economies of the regions are poorly integrated into each other. The head of the republic said that they should contribute to deepen mutual beneficial cooperation.

There are a good many of directions for mutually beneficial cooperation. Taking into consideration that chemical industry is well developed in the Kirov oblast, and Tatarstan can boast of its petrochemical industry, mutual supplies could increase in this sphere. Beneficial cooperation could be established in timber cutting and timber processing fields. Our republic could invest into this field.

Nikolay Shaklein told journalists that Tatarstan is an example of economical development for the Kirov oblast .

The President of Tatarstan and the Governor of the Kirov oblast signed an address to the Federal authorities in which they ask for speeding-up financing of the process of building the bridge over the Vyatka in Vyatskie Polyany.
