Mintimer Shaimiev: 25th World Bandy Championship is a historic event

The official ceremony of the 25th World Bandy Championship opened with a representation of teams from 11 countries. Addressing the sportsmen, organisers of the world tournament and residents of the republic, Mintimer Shaimiev thanked them for a great contribution to the preparation for the world championship, which is the first in the turn of actions devoted to the 1000th Anniversary of the Tatarstan capital. Carrying out of the world championship in Kazan is an evidence of significant successes of the republic in social and economic spheres, the RT President underlined.
I am sure that today's World Bandy Championship will be the best in the history of games, said Vyacheslav Fetisov, the head of the Federal Agency of physical culture and sport.
The official ceremony finished with two national anthems - of Russia and Tatarstan.

On 13 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev accompanied by the regional Mufti Kamil Samigullin took part in the XIV Iftar of the republic organized by the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Tatarstan, the administration of the Ak Bars Arena stadium and the national tourist complex Tugan Avylym (My Native Village) at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center.

During the conversation Vladimir Putin stated that he is happy to hear bright voice of Mintimer (Sharipovich) and wished him good health and all the best.
On 20 January, congratulating Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev with his birthday, the Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin wrote in his telegramme: “Being a famous and political leader, you have made a substantial contribution into modern development of Tatarstan and have earned the deep respect and gratitude of residents of the republic.
