Security in Kazan during 1000th Anniversary celebrations will be provided by more than 35 thousand militiamen

Security measures to be implemented in summer 2005 during celebrations of the 1000th Anniversary of Kazan were discussed by President Shaimiev and Russian Interior Troops Commander-in-Chief Colonel-General Nikolai Rogozhkin at the meeting in the Kazan Kremlin on December 7.

RT Interior Minister Asgat Safarov, who also took part in the meeting, said that 35 thousand militiamen of Tatarstan would be engaged to safeguard public safety. This figure is approximate, as the Interior Ministry officials have not got a full programme of events yet.

Nikolay Rogozhkin noted that the plan had been worked on the instructions by Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Rashit Nurgaliev.
