Tatarstan - Denmark: new directions of cooperation in energy and resources saving

1 December 2004, Wednesday
The international specialised exhibition "Energy. Resources saving", which has already become a tradition, opened on December 1 in the Expo-centre "Kazan Fair". It is held in parallel with the 5th international symposium "Resources efficiency and power saving" and the exhibition-presentation of the enterprises and companies of the Kingdom of Denmark in the field of development of energy and water sectors. President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Russian Federation Lars Vissing opened the exposition.

The exhibition has proved to be one of the most resulting and rich branch exhibitions in Russia. It gathered together more than 170 companies from 40 Russian cities including 70 Tatarstan-based enterprises showing advanced technologies and equipment in power and resources saving. Represented here are the latest developments of the Tatarstan's leading companies aimed at modernisation of the power supply system. Resources saving programs of the republic’s largest enterprises, among which there are "Tatneft", "Tatenergo" and "Nizhnekamskneftekhim", can seriously affect the situation in the field of economy of resources in Tatarstan and make production of our companies more competitive.

The republican program of power saving, accepted four years ago, played a huge role in understanding of importance of a power component in prime cost of the output, Mintimer Shaimiev noted in his speech at the opening ceremony. It helped to change out mentality and to increase competitiveness of Tatarstan output. We have done a lot during these years and there are still a lot of work to be done, the President said.

Mr. Lars Vissing marked that it is a great honour to attend the opening of the exhibition. It is a new stage of cooperation between Denmark and Tatarstan, and I think it will also be a success.
