Mintimer Shaimiev: "The party with a parliamentary majority cannot be unaccomplished"

Today, "United Russia" should work towards raising the authority of the party, declared President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev at the celebrations of the anniversary of Kazan State University on November 17.

In opinion of the President of Tatarstan, despite of difficulties of establishing the multiparty system in our society, the party with a parliamentary majority cannot be unaccomplished. However, in conditions when we are building a civil society, and further it is supposed to carry out elections only on party lists, the other parties should also consider it: "the other parties have to be accomplished either". It is especially important when taking into account that such system will be implemented all over the country, all levels of bodies of state and local government. This is the only way to a democratic society. And "United Russia" should work towards raising the authority of the party. And this can be reached only if the opinion of regions is taken into consideration in the United Russia party structures: "whatever laws are concerned, thay should first be discussed in regions, where a certain dicision is to be taken". Otherwise, this may sound trivial, the party will lose touch with people, Mintimer Shaimiev expressed confidence.
