Tatarstan is one of the most attractive regions of Russia in both economic and cultural terms, Nursultan Nazarbayev believes

October 28 saw President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev meeting in Astana.

The meeting was followed by the reception on behalf of President Nazarbayev held in honour of President Shaimiev in Kazakhstan leader’s residence .

The official negotiations were preceded by wreath-laying ceremony to the monument of Fatherland defenders with participation of Mintimer Shaimiev and members of the RT Government accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Information and Sport of Kazakhstan and Mayor of Astana.

Mintimer Shaimiev said the negotiations were constructive. Inter alia, the interlocutors focused on agreements achieved during the last visit of the Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov said in an interview that Kazakhstan is primarily interested in Tatarstan’s petrochemical branch. He went on to say that there is a lot to be developed.

Danial Akhmetov also said that the President of Kazakhstan considers Tatarstan to be one of the most attractive regions of Russia, both in economic and cultural terms. The head of the Kazakhstan Government completely shares this opinion.

Kazakhstan is interested in production of JSC "Kazan Helicopters” for its defence complex.

Cooperation with JSC KamAZ was also in the spotlight. "Kazakhstan-КAMAZ" consortium, set up a year ago, received a positive assessment.

Talking about issues of cooperation of the two peoples in cultural and spiritual spheres, Danial Akhmetov mentioned that the Tatars and Kazakhs have common spiritual roots and history, as well as the past and the present.
