Security Council discusses counter-terrorist security

The tragedy in Beslan that took away lives of hundreds of innocent people called forth convening of the enlarged meeting of the RT Security Council on September 10 in the Kazan Kremlin. Led by Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev, the participants focused on state of affairs and tasks of increasing efficiency of counter-terrorist security in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

We should not be carried away by the fact that the situation remains calm, RT First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Rinat Timerzyanov marked. The republic is a focus of interest for various extremist organisations. And the spread of such movements happens with connivance of all of us. Such treatment of the problem is unacceptable and in its time it resulted in appearance and successful functioning of madrasah “Yoldyz” in Tatarstan, sponsored by one of international extremist organisations.

In today’s conditions when war is declared to us, previous liberal attitude to this issue is impossible. We call ourselves liberals and therefore absolve ourselves of responsibility, and “this liberal niche, peculiar to democratic society, is used fully by our enemy for destruction”, the President of Tatarstan said. When they attempt the state, we cannot just watch it quietly.
