RT President counsels first-year students on the Day of Knowledge

Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the celebrations, organised on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge by Kazan Technological University in the Basket Hall.

It was for the first time that the only institute of higher education organised such grandiose festivities and it was attended by top officials of the republic. Meanwhile, it is one of the best universities of the republic and Russia and deserves by right this attention. The university was founded at the end of 19th century and today it is a large complex where first class specialists are prepared for the leading branches of economy. Over 20 thousand students study there, ten of who received grants of Russia and RF and RT Presidents.

Sergei Dyakonov, the rector of the university and advisor to the RT Presidents on science and higher education, opened the festivities where today’s and former students were honored. Among the graduates of the university there are: director general of Nizhnekamskshina Radik Ilyasov, director general of Tatspirtprom Rashit Shaikhutdinov, director general of KazanKompressormach Ibragim Khisameyev, and others.

The greatest attention was focused, as it is usual in such cases, on the first-year students. RT President Mintimer Shaimiev personally congratulated them on occasion of entering the university. Mintimer Shaimiev expressed gratitude to the parents and teachers who make all possible efforts to give education to young people and make them deserved citizens of their country. Talking about the quality of education in KSTU, he noted the university gives knowledge that allows them to meet the challenges of time.
