On August 31, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev met with Director General of the Federal State Statistics Service Vladimir Sokolin in the Kazan Kremlin.

The talks lasted for two hours. Present at the meeting were: Head of the RT President’s Administration Ekzam Gubaidullin, State Advisor to the RT President on social and economic issues Marat Safiullin, Chairman of the RT State Statistics Committee Valery Kandilov, RT First Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry – Director of the Centre for Economic and Social Researches Alevtina Kudryavtseva, et al.

The President of Tatarstan highly appraised the work of statistics organisations and said that thanks to statistics data the neighboring regions watch closely each other’s achievements. These data are not always well coordinated and we would like to have a complete “All-Russian” statistics account of what is going on in the regions of the country not only in economic but also social spheres. The republican government, the RT President underlined, is constantly guided the statistics data.

Vladimir Sokolin cordially thanked Mintimer Shaimiev for an invitation to visit Tatarstan on the Day of the republic, which impressed him greatly. He recalled that in the nineties of the last century Tatarstan had been a pioneer in developing social statistics, and today Tatarstan’s experience is implemented all over Russia.
