Mintimer Shaimiev meets with Ambassador of Germany

On August 27, Tatarstan president Mintimer Shaimiev received the delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Russia Dr. Hans-Friedrich von Ploetz. The parties discussed the Days of Germany in Tatarstan and exchanged opinions on development of cultural and languages interaction.

Mintimer Shaimiev marked that there is an active dialogue of the two cultures in Tatarstan, great attention is paid to the development of the German cultural autonomy. Nowadays, it is of big importance that apart from two state languages our children could speak at least one foreign language. We can do it as schools have received access to the world educational system through the Internet. Today’s communication technologies allow to develop learning of German in our republic, the President said.
