Nurlatsky district has reached record crop yields

On August 26, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev received the best grain-growers from Nurlatsky district, Tatarstan, who according to the harvesting results of 2004 provided the total amount of grain of 188,251 tons with a record yield of 50.1 centner per hectare. As of August 25, the following estimates refer to crop yields: wheat – 28800 tons, barley – 17200 tons, rye – 4126 tons.

For Tatarstan’s conditions and Russian agriculture in the whole, this achievement has no parallels in history, Mintimer Shaimiev said. For the last years, people of Nurlat have been making such a good use of their rich soil, nobody would have believed in this before. It is everyday work, based on the succession of generations and experience.

We have got persuaded, the President said, that the republic can receive sustainable yields, and we can provide profitability of agriculture everywhere.

The ceremony of honoring of grain-grows was attended by Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Head of the President’s Administration Ekzam Gubaidullin, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuff Marat Akhmetov.
