Tatarstan President has met with Rector of the Russian Academy of Justice

The President of Tatarstan met with the Rector of the Russian Academy of Justice. On August 16, President Mintimer Shaimiev received Rector of the Academy Valentin Ershov in the Kazan Kremlin.

The Russian Academy of Justice was found in 1999 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The founders are the RF Supreme Court and Higher Arbitration Court. The Academy is a state-run educational institution of higher professional education, preparing legal specialists, doing qualification upgrading and retraining judges, officials of general jurisdiction and arbitration courts, etc. The Academy of Justice has 10 branches in St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Krasnodar, and Kazan.

Issues of educational process and the system of judges training in the Academy itself and in Kazan were discussed at the meeting.

Mintimer Shaimiev marked the judicial authority in conditions of building a legal state should be staffed with high-qualified judges. Thus, the staff is to be prepared in specialised institutions.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of the RT Supreme Court Gennady Baranov, Director of the Kazan branch of the Russian Academy of Justice Raisa Rakhamatullina and Head of the Legal Board of the RT President Raisa Sakhieva.
