Memorial of Znamensky brothers must become a visit card of Kazan

This day, at the Kazan Kremlin, during the meeting between President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and President of All-Russia Federation of track and field athletics - Vice-President of European track and field athletics association Valentin Balakhnichev and chief coach of Russia National team on track and field athletics Valery Kulichenko a big range of issues has been discussed connected to development of track and field athletics and sports as a whole in Tatarstan.

For the first time, for 47 years of its existence, this prestigious track and field athletics tournament traditionally gathering up to 500 strongest athletes from 40 countries of the world is held in Kazan.

Participation in present Memorial have confirmed the sportsmen from 32 countries of the world - Morocco, Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Slovakia, Brazil, Croatia, Finland, Israel, Ukraine, Estonia, Poland, Cuba, the Republic of South Africa, Moldova, Romania, Jamaica, Greece, Grenada, Czechia, Bulgaria, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Thailand, Portugal, Turkey, Nigeria, Tunis, Latvia, Saudi Arabia and Russia. On the first day of competitions Russian athletes are going to contest for a victory among themselves in 19 events , and on July 9, at the Memorial - "international day", sportsmen from all over the world compete in 16 events of "Queen of sports".

Valentin Balakhnichev has confirmed the information that the Memorial of Znamensky brothers would settle down at Tatarstan capital for a long time - "we would like it to be held traditionally in Kazan".
