28 April 2004, Wednesday
On April 27, at the Kazan Kremlin, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev conducted a meeting with a focus on “Ensuring legality by officials of the executive bodies of the Republic of Tatarstan in exercising their functions”. The talks ranged from ways of fighting against economic crimes to bribe-taking in policlinics.

Security issues, Mintimer Shaimiev said, are very topical not only in the republic, but all over the country. In November of last year, RF President Vladimir Putin established a Council for counteraction against corruption. The objectives of the Council are to analyse work of federal, regional bodies of power, bodies of local government aimed at revelation of reasons and conditions contributing to spreading of corruption.

The republican law enforcement bodies have accumulated positive experience in fighting against corruption. Anyone should not be taken by surprise that we will gather once a quarter and discuss information on facts of corruption, no matter whose names will sound, the Tatarstan President underlined.

The meeting was attended by RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin, head of ministries and administrations, et al.
