President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev wired congratulatory telegram to member of Russian national team on track and field athletics Gulnara Samitova.
We remind, on July 4, representative of Kazan Gulnara Samitova established a world record in the Greek city of Iraklione at the international competitions "Super Grand prix" IAAF "Ciclitiria-2004" in 3000 m. steeplechase run.
In congratulatory telegram, according to RT President Press centre, in particular, it is said: "having shown the highest skill, ineradicable will to a victory and true fighter's character, you again have conquered world sports peak, confirmed the rank of one of the strongest athletes in the world. Today, you are pride and glory of our republic and all Russia". Mintimer Shaimiev expressed also confidence, that performance of Gulnara Samitova at the "Memorial of Znamensky's brothers "becomes an ornament of these prestigious competitions", and wished her sound health, happiness, success and new sports successes.
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.

On 6 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers to the monument of the Great Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin by the Jalil State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan.
