Presidential horse race at Moscow hippodrome

Moscow, horse race for Prize of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took place at Central hippodrome.

Horse race has been attended by Presidents Iklham Aliev, Robert Kocharyan, Mikhail Saakashvili, Nursultan Nazarbaev, Askar Akayev, Vladimir Voronin, Emomali Rakhmonov, Islam Karimov, Leonid Kuchma and by heads of republics, oblasts and territories of the Russian Federation. Henceforth these races will pass annually, and the Moscow hippodrome, probably, becomes a traditional place of summer meeting for the CIS heads of states, heads of the Russian regions, RT President Press center informs.

12 thoroughbred stallions and mares at the age of three years and older took part in the race. The prize-winning fund has made 3 million roubles.

Presidents of Kazakhstan, the Ukraine, Azerbaijan and a number of regions of our country nominated their race horses. The prize has been won by red race horse Akbash, representing Krasnodar territory. It is remarkable, that to participation in horse race for prize of President of the Russian Federation it is supposed no more than one horse from subject of the Russian Federation and country - participant. Three-year bay stallion Lambron from Tatarstan took 5 place.

« Organizers of competitions informed, that similar horse race in Russia has not been held since 1916. I am sure, establishment of horse race for Prize of President of the Russian Federation - a sign event. They would become the most prestigious action in equestrian sports and give a new pulse to developing domestic horse breeding, including in Tatarstan. We should by common efforts to revive the former glory of Fatherland in this field as well », - Mintimer Shaimiev said after the end of horse-racing holiday.
