Sabantui was a success

June 19 saw the holiday of Sabantui held in the Birch grove, Privolzhsky district, Kazan. The festival was visited by Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev, Russian Education and Science Minister Andrei Fursenko, Head of the Russian Federal Agency for constriction and housing Vladimir Averchenko, RT Prime-minister Rustam Minnikhanov, heads of republican ministries and organizations, foreign guests.

One of the main scenes of Sabantui was the Hippodrome. After the horse race, the guests visited the heart of the festival – maidan, a square where people come to celebrate and take part in Sabantui. There were competitions in national wrestling attended by republican outstanding wrestlers. The winner, Rystan Mukhamov, was presented not only with a sheep, the traditional Sabantui’s prize, but also with a car key.
