Tatarstan and France determined ways of cooperation

The Tatarstan-France relationship will receive an impetus. That was the task set by RT President Mintimer Shaimiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in the Russian Federation Jean Cadet in the Kazan Kremlin on March 1.

Earlier, France was among the first five trade partners, but today it’s on the twelve place. Both contracting parties admitted that the commodity circulation is low, there are few joint enterprises, and the cooperation between industrial factories is poorly developed. During the meeting it was decided to enhance relationship, in particular, with the help of the Moscow Business Club. A presentation of economic potential of Tatarstan was planned to be organized soon.

Tatarstan is the first region of the Russian Federation visited by Mr Jean Cadet after he was assigned for the position of ambassador in November. He came to Tatarstan as a head of the delegation. The relationship is sure to improve.

Mintimer Shaimiev focused on social–economic situation in the republic, determined the ways of industrial and economic growth, specifically, the development of oil industry and modernization of machine building. Besides, the President touched upon the political life in Tatarstan. The republic will participate in the elections of the RF President and deputies to the Tatarstan State Council in two weeks’ time. As a result of the previous elections twelve deputies from Tatarstan were elected to the RF Parliament. Five of the politicians now work as vice-chairmen, and Oleg Morosov is a vice-chairman of the RF Parliament.

Mintimer Shaimiev approved of the candidate for the position of RF Prime-Minster Michael Fradkov. The President described him as an expert competent in economics of Russia and the world. His experience of RF Minster of foreign economic affairs and trade, extraordinary representative of the RF in the EU will be very helpful on that responsible position.
