RT President Mintimer Shaimiev visits Vysokogorsky district

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev visited Vysokogorsky district on February 28. OOO “GranTash”, the stone-processing factory, was the first place visited by the head of the republic.

The construction of the factory was caused by the oncoming city millenium, construction of the subway in the capital of the republic and the continually increasing demand for high quality natural stone finish.

The President was interested in where they get the raw material, whether they use quarries in Tatarstan or outside the republic. For instance, the RT President paid attention to the fact that the onyx deposits in Spassky district (Tatarstan) account to some 2,000 tons. All onyx deposits in Russia, if put together, do not account for all the deposits prospected in Spassky district.

After visiting the factory workshops Mintimer Shaimiev got interested in importing opportunities of natural stone from other Russian regions and from abroad. Today, the factory uses raw material from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. The agreement is achieved and transport routes from Italy, Finland, Brazil and Spain are developed.

On the same day, RT President took part in the 23d session of the state council.
