RT President takes part in work of Commission under Russian President on federative relations and local self-government

On February 10, Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the work of the Commission under the President of the Russian Federation on issues of federative relations and local self-government, chaired by Dmitry Kozak.

Heads of working groups reported on analysis of a number of federal bills with the object of their conformity to the conception of reform of federal relations and local self-government, on optimisation of structure and functions of regional subdivisions of state federal bodies, on improving budget and tax legislation.

Members of the commission studied the course of realisation of the transitional provisions of the Federal law “On general principles of organisation of local self-government of the Russian Federation”, “On coordination of international relations”.

Mintimer Shaimiev, talking at the meeting, emphasised necessity of consideration of peculiarities of each region in the process of delimitation of powers. Tatarstan President touched upon a number of principal provisions, without which development of federal relations will not be ensured.
