Lights of Tatarstan New Year’s Tree

Over 5 thousand of children gathered at the principal New Year’s Tree of the republic, the grand opening of which was held on December 26 in the Basket-Hall.

The children saw a performance of over 500 actors from all over the republic.

Quitting the old-fashioned tradition of round dance around a new year’s tree, the young generation of XXI in love with the Internet met the New Year in virtual reality. Together with leaders of the show children clicked with an imagined mouse, loaded music files with New Year songs, and holding each other’s hands created a celebratory “computer network”. In a New Year message to virtual planet Satorium, children chose healthy way of life, active civil position, love to homeland, and energy of youth aimed at creation.

The guest of honour, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated children on a New Year. We love you and rely on you, he said. Together we can make our homeland – Tatarstan – so wonderful a fairytale as the one you have just seen on the stage.
