7 December 2003, Sunday
The co-chairman of the Higher Council of the United Russia party, Mintimer Shiamiev, took part in the voting in the 75th constituency situated in school #4 of the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan on October 7.

Traditionally, Mintimer Shaimiev came to the polling station with his spouse. At the school a woman in year came up to them. “These are requests of ours, veterans of the home front, she said. I hope they will be fulfilled.” The pensioner wished good luck to the United Russia party and its co-chairman. Mintimer Shaimiev answered that the propaganda was prohibited on that day.

“December 7 has become a reference point of forming a real multi-party system in the Russian society. The multi-party system alone will bring us closer to the civil society, without constructing of which we cannot talk about democracy,” the co-chairman of the United Russia party told journalists.
