“World Congress of Tatars” is summing up the results of 2003

A grand evening devoted to summing up of the results of the work of the World Congress of Tatars in 2003 took place in ‘Pyramid” cultural and entertainment centre on October 1. The event was attended by the Co-Chairman of the All-Russian “United Russia” party, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, M.Shaimiev, State Council deputies, members of the republican government. Among the guests there were members of the WCT Executive Council, heads of Tatar national organisations of Russian regions and foreign countries, representatives of Tatar community.

R.Zakirov, the Chairman of the Executive Council of the World Congress of Tatars opened the official part of the grand evening.

M. Shaimiev greeted the guests and particularly stressed that one of the main problems of Tatars living abroad is assimilation, loss of national culture and identity. Regardless of where Tatars live, the republic has to help in preserving the language, national and religious traditions.

The event included the Award ceremony and big concert of Tatarstan performers.
