All-Russia zone meeting “Strategy of development of a building complex of the Russian Federation on prospect till 2010" has started in Tatarstan today.

Deputy Prime-Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Jakovlev and Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation on Construction and Housing Complex Nikolay Koshman arrived in Kazan yesterday for participation in the meeting.

The guests were met at the airport by President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, first deputy Prime Minister of the RT Ravil Muratov, RT Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Marat Khusnullin, Kazan Mayor Kamil Iskhakov, and other officials.

Not by chance was the republic chosen for holding the meeting. Vladimir Yakovlev noted, speaking with journalists, that the republic has wide experience of construction, there is what to look at and what to show, including the realisation of the housing program. "It Is one of the major questions: in Russia there is 87 million square meters of shabby fund, and each year it will increase by 20 millions", - the vice-premier said. Therefore, alongside with the decision of a question of shabby housing, it is necessary to increase speed of construction. In Vladimir Jakovlev’s opinion, amount of new apartment blocks is to increase at least twice per year.

Mintimer Shaimiev supported the approach and noted that in 2004 the programme of shabby housing liquidation will basically be completed. Questions of introduction of the social mortgage now are seriously studied. "We want to create the programme available to people with average income", - the President declared.

The All-Russia zone meeting devoted to prospects of development of a building complex will be finished on 22 October.
