People will become interdependent

21 November 2003, Friday
We are approaching to deliberate interdependence. There can be no independent states and individuals, said the well-known Kazakh poet and publicist, the representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan in UNESCO, Olzhas Suleimenov at the presentation of his book “Turkis in pre-history” in the RT National library.

Today, history receives new comprehension, new models of federalism are being made, and they are totally different from the Soviet ones; in this connection it is important to determine “shares of freedom”. From the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific ocean independent states will stretch; peoples will depend on each other, no minor nation will depend on the major. I remember, the poet continued, high-ranking politicians asserted that to justify the disintegration of the Soviet union Russia should get rid of such “hanger-on” as Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, etc. As if it could make Russia rich. These politicians must have forgotten that 67 percent of all non-ferrous metals (93 percent during the war) were from Kazakhstan.

I’ve just returned from UNESCO general conference where Kazakhstan’s proposal to announce the year 2006 a year of planetary consciousness was accepted. The system of mutual interdependence should become the basis of society development.

RT President Mintimer Shaimiev, being on pre-election leave, spoke at the presentation and in particularly marked that we used to oversimplified these problems in our society. We searched not for the dialogue, but for drawbacks. Nowadays, it is necessary to strengthen the work on the dialogue if civilisations. Any people have the right to be heard, but not via requests. Speaking about the book “Turks in prehistory” Olzhas Suleimanov marked that he had worked on this book for more than forty years. It is dedicated to the problem of ancient links of the Slavonic and Turkish languages, etymology of some turkisms in the Slavonic languages, origin of ancient the Turkish languages and literatures. “I’ve met with many presidents but none of the meetings took place in the temple of the Book. I’m sure that today’s meeting will not only raise your authority, but also the authority of the literary word”, said the author to Mintimer Shaimiev.
