Kazan Kremlin Masters in Bronze

18 November 2003, Tuesday
November 18, there was a great opening of the sculptural composition “Architects of the Kazan Kremlin”. Co-Chairman of the Higher Council of the “United Russia” party Mintimer Shaimiev took part in this distinctive event.

The sculptural composition was designed by the group of the following authors: Alexander Golovachev, Vladimir Demchenco and architect Rustam Zabirov in 2001 and it was intended to be the monument in the name of the prominent white-stone masters – builders of the Kazan Kremlin.

It presents a sitting figure of a Russian builder with the Saviour’s Tower draft on his lap and a figure of Tatar builder, who stands behind with the Khan Kremlin sketch. Along the perimeter of the pedestal there are two fancy sashes with Oriental and Slavonic motives symbolising the mutual enrichment of both cultures.

Theatrical staging in the style of the Kazan Khanate epoch began the great opening of the composition.

Further on, Co-Chairman of the Higher Council of the “United Russia” party said that the mere fact of the monument erection is the historical event because it is not only the monument but also the tribute we pay to all city masters who had ever worked on our ancient land and architects still working over the modern look of the Kazan Kremlin. On the whole the architectural ensemble in Kazan is the mixture of various generations cultures.

The builders are that category of creative workers who doesn’t destroy but only create, the President marked.

“I want to draw your attention to the special value of such a creation. This monument is the embodiment of aspirations and cultures both of Tatar and Russian people. Presently the Annunciation Cathedral and Kul-Sharif Mosque are being revived; and is it not our position and tribute to the long and strong friendship of two nations? The monument brings us near to the creative and spiritual unity”, Mintimer Shaimiev added.
