Mintimer Shaimiev: "Russian President gave an objective appraisal of the situation in society"

If someone says that there is little specificity,and such judgements are expressed, I would offer them to try to assess the present situation in internal and foreign policy, social and economic development of the country within the framework of one-hour statement, President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev said, commenting upon the statement of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, his annual Message to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. It is impossible to specify more, than it does.

The Message gives an objective appraisal of the situation in society - with its pluses and minuses. As a matter of fact, the Message is a three-year result of his activity, what he could and could not do, what has to be done yet. The grandiose task - to double the volume of gross national product by 2010 means much. If we are more persistent in implementation of the task, all wishes which are incorporated in the previous messages will be executed. From my point of view, if the task is set, the Government of Russia should have the precise stage-by-stage program of its achievement. Daily consecutive work is necessary, Mintimer Shaimiev noted.
