Opera festival completed in Kazan

On February 15, the Tatar Academic State Theatre of opera and ballet named after M.Djalil held a closing gala concert of the XXII International Chaliapin Opera Festival devoted to the 130-anniversary of the great singer. The last festival day was marked by a ceremony of awarding leading singers of the theatre with participation of President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

The honorary title of RT people's artist was given to soloists of the theatre - winners of International competitions Michael Kazakov (bass) and leading tenor, winner of the International competition of vocalists n.a. Lemeshev Georgy Kovrikov. Vladimir Bessrebrennikov and Svetlana Bessonova received an honorary title "Honored Artist of the RT". M.Shaimiev warmly congratulated the talented vocalists who were recognized not only in our republic, but also abroad, and wished them new creative heights. He also handed Honorary Diplomas to the visitors of the festival.
