Nikolay Koshman pleased with building boom in Kazan

On December 14, a workgroup of the RF State Committee on construction and housing-and-municipal complex (Gosstroi) led by its Chairman Nikolay Koshman visited Kazan.

Housing-and-municipal reform is, perhaps, one of the most complex and urgent tasks of the economy, the President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev stressed in the beginning of a meeting with the RF Chairman of Gosstroy held in the Kazan Kremlin. The head of republic has acquainted the guests with a course of performing the Program on liquidation of shabby habitation, having noted, that for the last years in Kazan there were never such rates on housing construction. Metro-builders for a short term have managed to master technology of tunneling due to the newest equipment which they have now.

M.Shaimiev told also about the concept of reforming housing and communal services of Tatarstan, considered one of these days at the session of the RT Cabinet. According to the document, those tenants who have opportunities, will pay fully for its maintenance. For the needy citizens grants are provided. The president mentioned also about the problems of energy saving, new technologies and standards in construction.

Replying to the journalists after the end of a meeting, RT President Mintimer Shaimiev added, that preparation for a 1000-anniversary of Kazan was discussed as well.

I was not in Kazan more than four years, the centre, certainly, has changed to the best, Chairman of RF Gosstroy shared his impressions. He noted, that the republic today in solving separate problems - ahead of many regions of Russia. We had a look at the new basketball centre, this is a very decent building for Europe, visited a new cultural - entertaining centre which architectural solution really is impressive. By N.Koshman's words, the Pyramid is a worthy for presentation to competition of the State premium, and RF Gosstroy would support this offer.

On a question how and in what volumes RF Gosstroy will participate in preparation for a 1000-anniversary of Kazan, N.Koshman informed, that there is an order of the President of the Russian Federation for Gosstroy in which to his department two directions were determined: construction of the underground and the historical centre of Kazan.
