Basketball palace in Kazan

On November 30, a small hall of the Palace of sports "Basket -hall" was opened in Kazan. President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the official ceremony of opening.

For last years Tatarstan managed to promote appreciablly both in mass, and in professional sports. And this fact directly is connected to a level of social and economic development of republic, the President noted. Tatarstan by the achievements in sport takes today the second place after Moscow. But Tatarstan should not stop on the achieved, and this small hall - a way to high sports victories, Mintimer Shaimiev noted.

Construction of a universal sports complex began in December, 2000. Only the main game hall of the basic building is designed for 7500 spectators. For the disabled spectators the project stipulates separate lifts and additional convenience. All complex of buildings of a basket -hall will be supplied with he modern equipment providing comfortable stay of spectators.

The small hall of a basketball palace is designed for 1360 places. End of construction and commissioning of all sports construction will be held in 2003. The object cost, included in the federal target program " Preservation and development of the historical centre of Kazan ", exceeded 465 mill ion roubles. The Kazan architectural workshop under the direction of Vitaly Loginov had worked over the project. Construction is conducted by Turkish firm " Odak ".
