On June 24, on Freedom Square in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Counsellor Minitimer Shaymiev, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and WWII veterans took part in a solemn passage of the troops of the Kazan garrison, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the World War II.
Necessary security measures were taken because of the coronavirus pandemic. The participants were given masks and gloves and they all observed the social distance. The online broadcast of the Victory Parade was organized on the TNV TV channel.
The 24th of June, Parade date, is dedicated to the anniversary of the historic 1945 Red Square Victory Parade. The event traditionally began with a procession with the Banner of Victory, state flags of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.
Then the military parade on Red Square in Moscow broadcast online. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian citizens on the 75th anniversary of the Victory.
Putin declared a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the WWII, after which the State Anthem of the Russian Federation was played.
Minnikhanov addressed the audience on Freedom Square. “From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory of our multinational people over over the Nazi invaders! Exactly 75 years ago, on June 24, in Moscow, the capital of our country, Zhukov hosted the Red Army Parade, the flags of defeated Germany were thrown at the foot of the Mausoleum,” Tatarstan President said.
Our veterans accomplished a great feat that future generations of Russian citizens will never forget.
Today here with us is Boris Kirillovich Kuznetsov - Hero of the Soviet Union, a participant of the 1945 Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow.
Dear Boris Kirillovich, dear veterans! Addressing you, I want to express my gratitude to the whole Generation of Winners for military and labor feat! Low bow to you and the deepest recognition for the Great Victory!
You will always be for us the personification of courage, persistence and true patriotism. It is on your heroic example of love and devotion to the Motherland that brings up our children. And we should be worthy of your feat! ” Tatarstan President addressed veterans.
Minnikhanov emphasized that it is the holy duty of everyone to firmly contend for historical truth about the events of the Second World War and stop any attempts to rewrite history.
Then, the national anthem of Tatarstan was played.
Minnikhanov met the leaders of the parade crews and handed them in commemorative watches and books.
Minnikhanov and Shaymiev went to the Kazan City Hall, where they were presented a new book “Tatarstan: Everything for the Front, Everything for the Victory!” 1941-1945”, published by the State Archive-Keeping Committee of the republic and the State Archives of Tatarstan.
The book contains the richest historical material about the significant contribution of the homefront workers of the republic to the Great Victory. Minnikhanov instructed to send books to Tatarstan libraries.
