Rustam Minnikhanov and Mintimer Shaimiev open the cathedral mosque in Laishevo
On February 26, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov together with Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev and accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, the Head of Laishevsky region of the republic Ildus Zaripov and Mufti of Tatarstan, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the republic Kamil Khazrat Samigullin took part in the opening ceremony of the cathedral mosque «Ak Mosque «Zaynab».
Construction of the mosque started at the end of 2019 and was funded by philanthropists. The height of the structure, taking into account the minaret – is almost 36 meters. The mosque is located in the city center near the Trinity Cathedral. The mosque is designed for 400 believers.
There are separate rooms for men and women, as well as necessary conditions for people with disabilities. On the ground floor there is a hall for nikah and celebrations.
On the second floor there is a madrasah with three classes, a teachers' lounge and a room for the imam. There is also a viewing platform with sightseeing views for parishioners and tourists.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone on the opening of the Cathedral Mosque and thanked the benefactors for help in the construction.
“Today is a joyful event. Many people and organizations took part in the construction of the mosque. Sincere words of gratitude to all who have taken part in such an important and God-pleasing task. I am sure that this significant event will serve to strengthen the spirituality and unity of the Muslim ummah of the republic, as well as the development of interreligious and interethnic ties”, the Rais of Tatarstan said.
