Mintimer Shaimiev meets Mikhail Piotrovsky
On 16 October in the Kazan Kremlin Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaymiev, who is also the Chairman of the Trustees Council of the regional Revival Fund, had a meeting with the Director General of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new exposition “The Yusupovs. Luxury across the Centuries” at the Hermitage Kazan Exposition Center and which has been prepared especially for the 20th anniversary of the Hermitage’s first representational centre established in 2005 by celebrations of the Kazan Millennium.
Speaking at the meeting, Mintimer Shaimiev thanked Mikhail Piotrovsky for his continuous attention to the republic and for the honor and trust shown by opening the first Hermitage exhibition center in Russia in Kazan. Currently it is the attraction point not only for residents, guests and tourists of the republic but also for representatives from neighboring regions, he said.
The State Counselor gave the Hermitage Director General a book dedicated to the 15 year work of the Regional Revival Fund, and in his turn Mikhail Piotrovky gave Mintimer Shaimiev his new book “The Hermitage of Earth and Heaven “ and a colourful catalogue of the exposition being opened today.
Mintimer Shaimiev and Mikhail Piotrovky also discussed a number of issues of preservation of the World Heritage sites in Tatarstan.
