International conference "Muslim theological thought: national, religious and civilizational dimensions" opened in Bolgar

On October 8, the International research and practice conference "Muslim theological thought: national, religious and civilizational dimensions" organized by the Muslim Spiritual Board of the Republic of Tatarstan, Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education and Kazan Federal University opened in Bolgar, Tatarstan.

Opening the event, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev called the meeting of religious leaders on the holy land of Bolgar, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a historical event. He told that due to support of multi-ethnic people of Tatarstan, leadership of the country and republic and Regional Fund “Revival” Bolgar is changing and historical monuments are being reconstructed.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin said that terrorists who commit crimes desecrate a great world religion, Islam. We can stop them only by joint efforts and promotion of words of encouragement, right ideology and knowledge based on true sources of Islam doctrines. Therefore, the support of Russian leadership in the revival of Muslim spiritual center - Bulgar Islamic Academy is very important. The main mission of the academy is bringing up the generation of modern religious leaders, scientists with profound knowledge and authority who can counteract extremism,” Mintimer Shaimiev said.
