Mintimer Shaimiev meets participants of UNESCO International Forum

On September 15, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with Executive Secretary of UNESCO Commission Grigory Ordjonikidze, Senior Advisor to the Permanent Delegation of Russia to UNESCO Dmitry Knyazhinskiy, Director of historical and documentary department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Kuznetsov - participants of the UNESCO International Forum "Preserving humanity as an imperative for sustainable development”, being held in Kazan these days.

Before the meeting, Shaimiev had demonstrated a cultural and historical project of federal significance "Cultural heritage: ancient town of Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk" to the guests and told them about work which have been done for six years in these ancient towns with the assistance of the Revival Foundation.

The meeting discussed issues related to further cooperation to promote cultural heritage facilities to be inscribed on the World Heritage List and ratified by the Russian Federation of the International Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
