On November 5, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev visited a new square named after Asgat Galimzyanov near the Kazan Kremlin.

In 2008, the monument to the Philanthropist Asgat Galimzyanov (02.03.1936 – 03.01.2016) was unveiled by the initiative of the First Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev. The author of the project is the honoured artist and famous Kazan sculptor Asiya Minullina.

In 2016, when the philanthropist passed away the city leadership decided to name the square surrounding the monument after Asgat Galimzyanov.

Shaimiev’s family took up financial expenses and site improvement.

Rustam Minnikhanov liked the concept of the renovated park and the project.
