Mintimer Shaimiev meets Ramazan Abdulatipov

On April 22, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, who arrived in Kazan yesterday to take part in the 3rd Congress of the Peoples of Tatarstan, which opens at the Korston Entertainment Complex today.

Shaimiev told the distinguished guest about projects on preservation of historical and cultural heritage implemented in Tatarstan under the auspices of the Revival Foundation, speaking in details about the results of the Foundation's seven-year activity and about new projects, including the construction of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and the recreation of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

Head of Dagestan showed great interest in the experience of Tatarstan in the sphere of preserving the historical heritage, demonstrating deep knowledge of the history of Tatarstan and the activities of the Revival Foundation. He noted that the problem of preserving historical and cultural monuments is also topical in Dagestan and is the focus of attention of the republican leadership. Shaimiev assured him that Tatarstan specialists will be happy to share their experience with Dagestan colleagues in this sphere.

During the meeting, they also exchanged their views about today's 3rd Congress of the Peoples of Tatarstan. Abdulatipov shared his participation in the 2nd Congress as Chairman of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia in 2007. He also told Shaimiev about current social and economic development of Dagestan.
