Meeting of the Council on Islamic Education held in Bolgar

On June 30, a presentation of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and a scientific conference on topical issues of modern Islamic education were held during a meeting of the Council on Islamic Education in Bolgar.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Council on Islamic Education, Rector of Russian Islamic University Rafik Mukhametshin noted that speaking in Ufa Russian President Vladimir Putin said that one of the most important tasks of the Muslim Ummah is the revival of the national theological school. To accomplish this mission, the Bolgar Islamic Academy was originally planned as a federal project. He said that representatives of the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Government, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia took part in today's meeting.

Making a presentation of the Bolgar Islamic Academy, Aide to Tatarstan President, Chairman of the Council of Founders of the Academy, Acting Rector Kamil Iskhakov gave details about the origins of Islamic education in the republic, the history of the establishment of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and the first results of its activities.

The Academy is a complex of educational and residential buildings, consisting of seven blocks: the main teaching facility and six campuses for students, teachers and administrative staff.
