Mintimer Shaimiev meets delegation of Tatars from Astrakhan region

On August 4, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev had a meeting with the delegation of Tatars from Astrakhan region, who are taking part in the 6th Session of the World Congress of Tatars.

Chairman of the Astrakhan regional public organization – Tatar national culture society "Duslyk", Chairman of the Control Auditing Commission of the World Congress of Tatars Anvar Almayev told Shaimiev about the activities of the Duslyk society and its cooperation with the executive committee of the World Congress of Tatars.

The guests from Astrakhan shared their impressions of the 6th Congress of the World Congress of Tatars, which began its work in Kazan on the 2nd of August. Almayev noted good organization and interesting programme of the congress.

The participants of the meeting exchanged their views on some issues touched upon at yesterday's plenary session, in particular, about preserving the native language.

Shaimiev told the guests about the socio-economic development of Tatarstan and long-term cooperation of the republic with Astrakhan region. He also informed them about the results of the seven-year activity of the Revival Foundation aimed at preserving the historical and cultural heritage.
