On March 18, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev together with his wife Sakina Shaimieva voted in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation at the polling station № 42, located in the building of Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev – KAI.
After the voting, a bracelet “I voted” was handed in to Shaimiev, as well as to all Kazan citizens who voted.
Answering to the journalists' question “How important is it to take part in the voting for the Russian people today?", Shaimiev replied: "It is a civic duty for all of us. We must show our unity through elections, through active participation in them, the right of everyone to vote for his candidate. It is important for us to be united and strong. Even the younger generation already feels that Russia does not even have the right to be a weak state. You understand very well that the weak one do not always talk to. I think that the elections will be held dignified in the country, as an example to many other states. This is our choice, so we are taking our bold steps, our choice for the benefit of the future, especially for our youth."
Tatarstan State Counsellor also noted that Tatarstan has always been very active in the elections. “This is a good indicator of unity, understanding, expression of attitude towards the authorities and candidates,” he said.
