Mintimer Shaimiev holds meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Administration of the Revival Regional Foundation

On March 23, in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation Mintimer Shaimiev held a meeting of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Administration of the Revival Regional Foundation of  historical and cultural monuments of Tatarstan on the results of work in 2017.

In his welcoming speech, Shaimiev thanked all participants of the meeting for the support and cooperation with the Revival Foundation.

He also emphasized that the inscription of the Dormition Cathedral and the monastery of the island-town of Sviyazhsk at the 41st session of the World Heritage Committee in Poland into the UNESCO World Heritage List became a significant achievement.

This monument became the 29th Russia’s site in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Shaimiev also called the opening of the Bolgar Islamic Academy a significant achievement of the past year. He thanked the General Directorate for Investment and Construction of the republic, TatInvestGrazhdanProekt State Unitary Enterprise, Gran’ construction company for the quality of the work and founders, represented by the Muslim Spiritual Board of the republic, for the assistance and support.

Tatarstan State Counsellor spoke about the significant success in the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. He emphasized that the issues of construction of the cathedral, including in terms of future exploitation, are discussed with Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan.

Shaimiev also thanked the Chairman and staff of Tatarstan State Committee on Tourism, who managed to attract tourists to Bolgar and Sviyazhsk.

Executive Director of Revival Foundation, Deputy Chairman of State Counsellor of the republic Tatyana Larionova gave a detailed report on the results of work of the Foundation in 2017 and tasks for 2018.

She also told the members of the Board of Trustees about the financial activity of the Foundation.

Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Deputy Prime Minister - Chief of Staff of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, Chairman of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO Shamil Gafarov, Deputy Chairman of the regional State Council, Head of the Board of Administration of the Revival Regional Foundation Yuri Kamaltynov and other officials took part in the meeting.
