Rustam Minnikhanov and Mintimer Shaimiev congratulate residents of Sviyazhsk island on New Year

Today RT President Rustam Minnikhanov and State Counselor of the Republic Chairman of Guardian council of the Republic fund for reviving RT monuments of history and culture Mintimer Shaimiev visited island-town Sviyazhsk to congratulate its residents on coming New Year and the Gorokhovs family on house–warming.

Residents of Sviyazhsk met the distinguished guest at New Year tree placed on Rozhdestvensky square of the island.

«This year a lot has been done on island –town Sviyazhsk, -Rustam Minnikhanov said in a congratulation speech. Many spiritual relics have been restored, some at the moment are in restoration process. The island is changing , becomes , more comfortable, beautiful, landscaped. The houses built here are really the worth ones. This speaks that the republic is developing, the economy allows us to solve social tasks. We do not forget our historical, spiritual values and it is very important for our citizens to live in worthy conditions».

RT President thanked also construction companies, the Republican revival fund and personally Mintimer Shaimiev for the work done. «Thanks to a systematically work of the Fund and all structures the two shrines are being restored in Tatartsan - Bolgar and Sviyazhsk. This is a pride not only for the republic but for all Russia, R. Minnikhanov marked.

RT President congratulated all residents of island –town on coming New year, wished health, happiness, prosperity and successes in new 2012 year.

Mintimer Shaimiev addressing the residents of Sviyazhsk marked that all what is happening on the island was difficult to imagine yet 2 years ago and seemed an unfeasible dream. «Besides, this year the most biggest size of square meters of housing for all the years is commissioned. The program is being implemented M.Shaimiev stressed.

Finishing his speech Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated the islanders on New year and assured them that positive changes on the island would be lasted in new year, since spring the works on beautification are to be resumed.

Then distinguished guests visited new house and handed keys to a new apartment of the Gorokhovs family. This year 8 houses for 33 flats have been built. In December, 5 houses have been settled. In January 2012, the remained 3 houses are due to be settled.

Let us recall, it was assumed to improve living conditions of 91 families residing on Sviyazhsk island including under the republican program of resettling citizens from the failing housing fund, under social mortgage program and at the expense of sub-inventions allocated from the federal budget to veterans. For the 2010-2011 period it happened to improve living conditions for 81 families.

The move-in Gorokhovs participated in the program of resettling citizens for failing housing stock in 2011. Head of the family Gennady Gorokhov from 1981 worked as security in Sviyazhsk correction boarding school. Nowadays, the main occupation of Gennady is breeding doves which are used in holding cultural, social actions on Sviyazhsk island. His spouse Vera Gorokhova works as a teacher of English in Sviyazhsk 8- years school. The Gorokhov’s son Sergei, currently, is learning in Kazan technical college.

The event was attended by Aide to President on social issues, executive director of the Republican revival fund Tatyana Larionova , head of Zelenodolsk municipal region Sergei Batin and other official persons.
