Extraordinary session of the Tatarstan State Council of the fourth convocation was held today. Tragic events that happened in Kazan on July 19 made parliament members break off their traditional holidays.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan’s State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, leaders of republic’s traditional confessions, heads of municipal regions and city districts, leaders of large regional religious centers attended the session.
“We must carefully analyse the situation and pass appropriate legal acts aimed at prevention of any kinds of extremism,” the State Council Chairman Farid Mukhametshin said.
Tatarstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Asgat Safarov presented information about measures taken on preventing and counteracting extremism.
During the session deputies passed the bill about amendments in the Republic of Tatarstan Law “About freedom of conscience and religious associations.”
The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov summed up results of the extraordinary session of the RT State Council.
“I am sure we have enough power and financial resources to tackle our common task. We live in a stable republic and our future depends on how stable it will be,” Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized. He noted as well that the meeting was held in proper time and hoped for realization of all proposals that had been made at the session.
