Mintimer Shaimiev and German Gref visit island town Sviyazhsk

Tatarstan’s State Counselor, Chairman of Supervisory Council of the Republican foundation for restoration of historical and cultural monuments “Revival” Mintimer Shaimiev and President, Chairman of JSC “Sberbank of Russia” German Gref have visited island town Sviyazhsk.

Mintimer Shaimiev showed historical monuments restored in the context of the project “Cultural heritage of Tatarstan: ancient town of Bolgar and island town Sviyazhsk” to German Gref and officials of Sberbank Central office.

Guests saw the Trinity church and the Ioanno-Predtechensky Monastery, the Church of Constantine and Elena, the Dormition Church, brethren's building of the Virgin Dormition Monastery, the church “Consolation of All Who Sorrow”, visited the museum “Island town Sviyazhsk” and tourist ethnographic complex “Stable yard”.

Mintimer Shaimiev told German Gref about forthcoming archeological and restoration works, conservation and museumification performed in Bolgar and Sviyazhsk. He thanked Sberbank president for voluntary financial help rendered to the Revival foundation.

German Gref appreciated activity of the foundation implemented on island town Sviyazhsk. He noted that Tatarstan always adopts best world practices and pays much attention to development of spirituality. It points to foresight and wisdom of the first and sitting presidents of Tatarstan and development of republic.
