On September 14, at their meeting in the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev met new Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan Yerlan Iskakov discussed the possibilities of joint projects in the field of culture, education, preservation of the language and historical heritage.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan was opened in 2012. Iskakov took up the duties of the Consul General of Kazakhstan this September. Prior to that, he worked as Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Shaimiev congratulated the diplomat on assuming a new position in Tatarstan and wished him success. He noted that active cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan traditionally contributes to the strengthening of relations between Russian and Kazakhstan.
Iskakov thanked Shaimiev for the warm welcome and for his great contribution to the dynamic, multilateral cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tatarstan.
