Mintimer Shaymiyev meets Oleg Matytsin
On 21 January in the Kazan Kremlin the State Counselor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaymiyev had a meeting with Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, who congratulated Shaymiyev with his 85-th birthday and handed him in the highest award of the Russian Sports Ministry – the Badge of Honour “For merits in development of sports and physical culture”.
“You are our teacher and mentor. You have brought up many good specialists in sports, including us the Ministers” – Matytsin said. He reminded about his close cooperation with the first President of Tatarstan during the preparation and holding the XXVII World Students Olympics in Kazan when he was the president of the All-Russia Students Sports Union and the Vice-President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov and the Rector of Volga Academy of Sports, Physical Culture and Tourism Rafis Burganov also took part in the meeting.
