Mintimer Shaimiev meets Naina Yeltsina

On March 8, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev met Naina Yeltsina – the widow of First Russian President Boris Yeltsin. She arrived in Kazan to visit final matches of the International Junior Tennis Tournament “Yeltsin Cup” that was held in Kazan for the 5th time. The tournament is organized by the Presidential center of B. N. Yeltsin, Kazan Tennis Academy and Russian Tennis Federation.

More than 150 best junior tennis players from all over world took part in the International Junior Tennis Tournament in Kazan on March 2-8. The first highest category was assigned to the tournament in 2015 which means it has become the only junior tournament of this level in Russia.

Naina Yeltsina took part in a solemn ceremony of awarding winners of the event.

Mintimer Shaimiev told Naina Yeltsina about achievements of the “Revival” Foundation for five years of its work.

Naina Yeltsina became one of the benefactors of the Regional foundation of the revival of historical and cultural monuments in 2011.

Yeltsina shared her impressions about the tournament and thanked leadership of the republic for perfect organization of the competitions. She noted that Kazan tennis academy is the best in Russia that meets modern sports requirements.

Member of the board of the Presidential center of B. N. Yeltsin, former advisor to the president Vladimir Shevchenko, Valentin Yumashev, a famous Russian tennis player Anastasiya Myskina, Deputy Chairman of Tatarstan State Council, CEO of the “Revival” Foundation Tatyana Larionova, Minister for youth affairs and sport Vladimir Leonov took part in the meeting.
