The street named after Mintimer Shaimiev opened in Nazran

On April 2, the street named after Mintimer Shaimiev opened within the framework of days of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan in Nazran (Ingushetia). It was a big holiday for local citizens.

The main street of Nazran, one of the biggest cities in Ingushetia called “the heart of native land” by the Ingush, was named after the first president of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

The street location and meaning are aligned with life principles of Mintimer Shaimiev – “to unite and create”. The street is located near Nazran-Moscow railway and the motorway which connects Ingushetia with North Ossetia.

Deputy Chairman of Ingushetia Government Madina Goigova, Mayor of Nazran Alikhan Tumgoyev, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Committee for culture, science, education and national affairs Razilya Valeeva, Chairman of the Committee for science, education, culture and sport of the People's Assembly of Ingushetia Vasily Svetlichny, Minister of culture of Ingushetia Maret Gazdieva, Tatarstan Deputy Minister of culture Guzel Nigmatullina, Head of Nazran Administration Magomed Parchiev took part in the ceremony.

“Due to strong will and inexhaustible energy of Mintimer Shaimiev, Tatarstan is one of the most developed regions in Russia today, where innovative, socio-economic development is combined with achievements of interethnic and interconfessional concord,” Magomed Parchiev said.

A lot of city dwellers, representatives of the Tatar Diaspora came to the holiday with their families.

Chairman of the Tatar Diaspora in Ingushetia Svetlana Selimzhanova said that Tatarstan and Ingushetia are tied by many years of friendship.
